Q: What should we pay attention to when we wash our hands in order to prevent swine flu?

A: Influenza A (H1N1) virus belongs to the Orthomyxovirus family. The virus is sensitive to ethanol, iodophor and tincture of iodine. It is sensitive to heat. It can be inactivated at 56 C for 30 minutes.

Hand hygiene is one of the important contents of good personal hygiene habits, which can effectively prevent the spread of virus. After contact with patients, hand washing should be done in time after touching eyes, mouth, nose, sneezing or coughing, after toilet, before wearing masks and after removing masks, after contacting public facilities such as handrails, door handles, elevator buttons, public telephone, and after going home from outside.

Q: How to do preventive disinfection in daily life?

A: During the influenza A (H1N1) epidemic period, families without patients should pay attention to hand washing, bathing, changing laundry and drying bedding. Open windows and ventilate 2 to 3 times a day, no less than 30 minutes each time. Home floors and surfaces of tables, chairs, beds, cabinets, door handles and other objects should be cleaned well. Family members should wash their hands and change their clothes in time after returning home. After visitors visit, they should clean the related articles and disinfect them when necessary.

Before eating in public places or after touching public facilities (including elevator buttons, light switches, water dispenser switches, etc.), try to use hand washing liquid and flowing water to wash hands. If you can't wash your hands, wipe them with a sterile wipe. When you go out, don't rub your eyes, dig your nostrils and suck your fingers. When sneezing, blowing or coughing, cover your mouth and nose with paper towels. Used paper towels should be discarded into covered trash cans to avoid contamination by droplets. Containers for indoor garbage collection should be regularly cleaned and covered. Hands should be washed immediately after contact with respiratory secretions, such as sneezing, sniffing and coughing.

Q: What kinds of disinfectants can be used to prevent H1N1? Where can I buy it?

A: Hand washing liquid and soap can be chosen as detergents, such as 75% alcohol, 84 disinfectant, chlorine-containing disinfectant, peracetic acid, chlorine dioxide disinfectant, fast hand disinfectant and so on.

Common disinfectants can be purchased in pharmacies, supermarkets and markets of disinfection and insecticidal products. When choosing disinfectants, we should first check whether they have the approval number of the Ministry of Health on the instructions and labels, and then see if they are valid. According to the contents of the instructions, suitable disinfectants were selected according to different objects of disinfection. The dosage and method of disinfectant shall be based on the instructions.

Recommended five-step washing techniques: wet, rubbing, flushing, holding and wiping. The whole process lasts at least 30 seconds to achieve effective cleaning.

Wet - Wet your hands and apply hand sanitizer.

Rubbing - Rubbing hands to foam for about 20 seconds. Five fingers together, palm wipe palm; fingers interlaced, palm wipe back; fingers interlaced, palm wipe palm; two hands grip each other, wipe back; thumb rotation in the palm; fingertips rub palm.

Flush - Rinse your hands clean.

Hold - Hold water to flush the tap.

Wipe - Dry your hands with a paper towel or a clean towel.

If there is no clear water, hand disinfection can also be carried out with alcohol-containing quick-drying hand disinfectant, or with 0.5% iodophor solution (containing effective iodine 5000mg/L) or 0.5% chlorhexidine alcohol solution, wipe for 1-3 minutes.
